Residential Weekends & Outdoor Experiences
Residential Weekends and Outdoor Experiences
Empower Care Scotland is proud to offer adventures that build confidence, independence, and lasting memories with new friends.
Whether it’s a weekend away or a longer stay, these experiences are designed to be fun, fulfilling, and empowering.
With our yearly activity programme, we tailor adventures based on the interests and feedback of people we support. These weekends are not just about getting away – they are about achieving personal goals, building new skills, and making lasting memories. Plus, they offer essential respite for family carers, knowing their loved ones are safe, supported, and enjoying their time away.
Why residential experiences matter
Our residential weekends are more than just trips – they are opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and social connection. Each residential weekend offers a choice of interests which the people we support can access from a yearly programme of activities.
Past Experiences
Each residential weekend offers a choice of interests which the people we support can access from a yearly programme of activities. Some of our exciting group experiences have included:

Outdoor Adventures
The Edinburgh Fringe - Experience the buzz of the famous arts festival. Largs Viking Festival - Step into history with an immersive experience. Aberdeen Youth Festival - A trip planned around a youth theatre and music programme. Manchester Comic Con - A trip to meet heroes and villains with like-minded individuals.

Pottery and Paint
Creative sessions where individuals can explore their artistic talents. We enjoyed planning a series of creative workshops for the people we support. This encouraged them to express their artistic talents with hands-on activities. At the conclusion of each session, everyone had the opportunity to bring home their completed artwork. This is something we will be bringing into our new activity programme.

Karaoke Nights
Fun singing sessions that allow individuals to express themselves in a relaxed setting. We run relaxed singing sessions where everyone can express themselves through song. Since karaoke is a favourite activity among the people we support, we've enhanced our setup with a karaoke machine and microphones to make their time even more enjoyable.

Girls Pamper Weekends
Girls' theatre and pamper weekend: an opportunity for a girls' group to connect and visit a show with their friends. The girls' theatre and pamper weekend offered an opportunity for groups to attend a show and participate in activities such as making mocktails, using facemasks, and having manicures. Last year, the group attended a theatre performance and then took part in a pamper session, which was included as part of a residential weekend.
Our goal with these activities is to achieve outcomes such as:
- Increased confidence and self-esteem: Each new skill or positive experience helps to build self-belief and emotional resilience
- Enhanced social skills: Participating in group activities and shared experiences enables individuals to develop friendships and become more at ease in social environments.
- Respite for families: Parents have peace of mind that their loved one is receiving quality support that delivers real growth and real fun.
We’d love to welcome you or someone you care about on one of our upcoming residential weekends or bespoke respite stays.
