Starting 1 April 2025, Empower Care Scotland Ltd will increase Support Worker pay to £13.50 per hour. We appreciate our frontline staff’s efforts in improving our organisation, despite the challenges in health and social care.
We are currently recruiting for children and adult support workers. This can be contracted, sessional, or term-time employment, depending on the needs of the individuals using our service.

Children & Adults Support Worker
Main Purpose of Job: To provide individual and group support to children and adults with additional support needs in the Lanarkshire area.
Accountable to: Line Manager
Location: Based in Coatbridge, travel essential throughout Lanarkshire
Working Hours: Variable to suit the needs of the service. Hours mainly include school holiday periods, weekends, and evenings depending on the needs of individual person being supported.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and group support to children and adults with disabilities
- Facilitate inclusion of children and adults into community activities
- Support children and adults to identify and design activities which challenge and develop their social interaction skills
- To support and encourage children and adults to achieve their goals
- To keep accurate records, maintain confidentiality and follow policy and procedures of Empower Care Scotland.
- Be aware of and be sensitive to issues around disability and discrimination and challenge any discriminatory behaviour
- To report to parents/guardian on the activities of their loved ones.
- To participate in supervision, evaluation, and appraisal meetings
- To advise senior staff and record any incidents or accidents
- To keep up to date with SSSC training requirements.
- To undertake any other duties as identified and agreed with the Manager
Person Specification
Essential
- A keen interest in caring for people.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Basic communication technology skills such as, use of smart phones, internet and data entry (training will be provided)
- Ability to work unsupervised and deliver outcomes for children and adults.
- Ability to drive and have access to a car for work purposes, to travel across Lanarkshire for community-based shifts
- Some experience of individual and group work with children and adults.
- Good record-keeping skills
- Ability to listen and respond to children and adults effectively
Desirable
- An ability to challenge discrimination in community settings
- First aid experience/training
- Experience of working with families
- Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with other professionals
- Good report writing skills
- Relevant qualifications
